Proudly owned and operated by Aboriginal people
We pay our respects to the traditional custodians of the land on which our business is situated, the Wadjuck people.
We pay our respects to the elders past and present and particularly acknowledge our Elders who are no longer with us for their support and encouragement.
Dale Tilbrook and her brother Lyall Tilbrook own Maali Mia Pty Ltd which operates the Maalinup Aboriginal Gallery. Dale’s daughter Venetia also works in the business. The family are descendants of the Wardandi Bibbulmun people from the Busselton, Margaret River, Augusta area.
Dale has a background in Retailing and Marketing and a special interest in natural products. She has a Diploma in Aromatherapy and has studied product formulation. She is very knowledgable about Australian native ingredients which are featured in her range of home and body products.
Dale also has wonderful knowledge about local foods and the bush tucker ingredients in the ranges stocked by Maalinup.
Lyall Tilbrook has a background in the mining industry doing fire assay and laboratory analysis and recently completed further study in Financial Services. He is a well known local maker of returning boomerangs and had the honour of having his boomerangs selected by SOCOG for the special Indigenous swing ticket during the 2000 Olympics.
Maali Mia present local art, history and culture workshops, cultural awareness workshops and educational programmes. For more information, go to the activities page or speak to Dale to tailor a presentation to your requirements.
